Note: Although the obituary says he is M.S. Long and the cemeteries do not match he is the only LONG to have died in March in Montgomery County in this year - buried Oak Hill, Grant Avenue (Masonic then) and dates do match 6 July 1832 - 15 March 1898 then the next CWJ confirms Wm. S. Long
M. S. Long, a retired farmer living on John Street, died last Tuesday about 11 o’clock, of a complication of diseases after a long illness. Mr. Long was sixty six years old and leaves a wife and two daughters, Mrs. M. D. Jones, of Lebanon, and Mrs. Frank Warren, of this city. The funeral will occur at the residence this afternoon at 2 o’clock. Interment will be at the cemetery on the Darlington Road three miles northeast of the city.

Wm S. Long whose funeral occurred from the residence on John Street Friday afternoon, was born near Middletown, Butler County, Ohio, July 6, 1832, and came to Montgomery County with his parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Long, in 1838, traveling through in wagons. At that time the country between Indianapolis and Crawfordsville was one vast forest. Their first home was near this city on what is now known as the Stafford farm. While a boy he helped clear away the heavy forest and make a farm three miles northeast of this city. Dec. 24, 1858, he was united in marriage to Mazza A. Lee. To this union was born two daughters, Mrs. M. S. Jones, of Lebanon, and Mrs. F. B. Warren, of this city. The wife, two daughters, one sister and three brothers are left to mourn his departure, but now without hope for their Savior has prepared for us a happier and brighter home where we will meet to part no more.
The funeral was conducted by Elder Airhart and was very largely attended. The family wishes to thank their neighbors and kind friends for their help and sympathy in their sad bereavement.
